Wow did I blow it today! Procrastination at it’s worst.
Secret weather forecast said Drayton Valley/Edson/Whitecourt were going to get it good. I got a tip that things were going to erupt right here, so I got tied up with something else for the afternoon, after nearly leaving for Drayton shortly after noon.

Nice lightshow this morning.
A cell sat right over the house, building, from about 10pm till about 11:30, when it took off to the northeast with a lightning bolt. Went a few miles to the east and watched it zap Red Deer a few thousand times before it moved off to the NE.

Started the day off with an early AM light show. Nice!
Good way to start a day that has been forecast to be stormy.

A nice big cell was moving almost due east from Rocky Mountain House towards Red Deer, so I waited for B to get home and we headed off to Sylvan Lake to observe.

What an amazing night of electrical mayhem!
A big low rolled in last night around 9pm, firing up cells all along the foothills and spinning them off to the NE.
We went out to see the first line roll in just before 10.
