September 6

Today started with a few rumbles of thunder around 9am. Around 9C at the time. Mid afternoon, a few little cells popped up west of Rocky and started tracking southeast, so I went out for a look. They were doing ok out in the foothills, but rapidly fell apart as soon as they got out of the hills. Seemed like there was a good cap from Sylvan/Red Deer south.

i thought the below image mayyyyybe had some potential, the higher winds aloft sure spreaded that anvil out…it was a nice drive to poplar ridge from red deer looking at this! im afraid our storms are going to be like this from now on without ANY moisture at all, small and quick. a pretty good season all together though.

I wish I had left 10 minutes earlier. By the time I got that last shot, it was already coming apart pretty fast. It looked much better on the drive to this spot and you could see beautiful cauliflower on the back side. I thought it was going to keep moving along past me, but it slowed right down when it started to collapse, then stalled and evaporated.
