November 7
After two cold windy days on the 4th and 5th, yesterday we hit +16C as a warm ridge built in from BC. Freezing rain has been widespread over Alberta, with the Grande Prairie area getting iced on the night of the 5th. Freezing rain warnings are out now for central Alberta from Grande Prairie to Barrhead.
Early on the 6th, a Greyhound bus lost control and slid off an ice coated road east of GP near Bezanson resulting in 3 fatalities and injuring 18 of the 28 passengers.
It started to rain here late last night after 7, but it was too warm to freeze. By the time we got below zero(4am), things had dried off a bit, so it wasn’t real bad here when things did freeze up.
The little smear of snow we got is gone. Back to brown. It did stick for a few days though.
Looks like a tough week for the forecasters, with the jet still hanging flat and little ridges and troughs riding along it. After peeking at a few models, it looks like anybody’s guess as to what happens in the next week.
It’s just about time to dust off the sleds and evict the mice.
Snow please!
