Alberta Foothills Weather

November 13

Wind warnings went out yesterday for much of central and southern Alberta, and are just beginning to lift now. A 975mb low swept in from BC, giving little but wind. A few flurries up north of the low and a lot of blow along and behind the sharp front.
We were mostly spared from the worst of it, with a few gusts up to 70km/h. Sounds like Edmonton got whacked this morning with 85km/h winds, the news is reporting snapped trees and downed power lines. At noon, the folks out east in Consort and Coronation are still getting a steady 70km/h wind.
Nothing like what happened in BC , where up to 200,000 people may be without power after getting a big blow there.

A sample of max winds from PASPC:
Waterton Park Gate…..122 KM/H
Stavely……………………….112 KM/H
Pincher Creek…………….104 KM/H
Lethbrige…………………… 98 KM/H
Medicine Hat……………… 93 KM/H
Consort………………………. 91 KM/H
Stettler………………………. 85 KM/H
Suffield………………………. 85 KM/H

We had a cold front blow through on Saturday the 10th, lighting up a few TCU as it rolled in with a roar of wind and a good downpour. It even got mad enough to produce a lone thunder as it passed over here. This had to be the last rainbow of the year.
