Alberta Foothills Weather

December 2

Brr!
It’s been cold and uneventful here since the last post.
Last night we hit - 23 with a windchill of -32, the night before was -24 , the coldest we have been since Feb. 14. Edmonton Intl. Airport hit -29 with windchills of -37 last night. I threw crude chart together comparing this November to last year’s numbers, nothing too anomalous in there.

The first good snow of the season could be on it’s way as I type this. Most of southern BC is under heavy snowfall warnings, with anything from freezing rain up to 50cm of snow forecast for tonight. Pacific radar composite shows significant moisture pouring over southern BC and heading this way. No warnings up for Alberta yet. The secret forecast mentioned a possibility of 10-15 cm for Alberta tomorrow. Hopefully things will warm up a bit at the least.

EC issued their new December- February precip anomaly forecast and it is still suggesting above average snow levels for the foothills and southern Alberta. Bring it on, I have sled itch.
