March 6
A nice treat for a few central/southern Albertans this morning.. a few cm of big fluffy flakes. We got 3cm of goose feathers in a few hours after midnight before the fog rolled in and lingered till mid morning. It’s above zero again, the melt has begun and we have a good snow eating breeze from the south so it won’t be here for long. We picked up around 3cm Monday night as well, but a stiff north wind followed and blew it all away , the little bit that hid on the south side of things melted off by early afternoon and you couldn’t tell it had snowed at all. A bit more breezy than I like for the for the past few days, but with the warm temps it’s been a lot like April. Can’t complain when you see the temps they have to the east.
More warm is forecast for the next week, until we get to the 15th… when the GFS has an arctic surge crunching down into Alberta. Will be interesting to see what happens there. A few bits of precip are showing up on the models, a sprinkle for Saturday, then possibly another little bit on Tuesday night, with the warm temps it could be rain instead of snow.
It’s time for spring anyway.
