Alberta Foothills Weather

July 8

After a nice day yesterday and most of today, thunderstorms returned this evening. A cell formed up near Edson and started to move southeast, picking up steam as it crossed hwy#22 south of Drayton Valley. I took off towards Sylvan Lake and Brandon headed for Lacombe to see what was up.
It had a nice anvil with an overshooting top when I got my first good look near Sylvan, and halfway to Bentley I could see it had some dangly bits but was too far away to tell what it was. I met up with it just west of Gull Lake, and it had already started to blow out. Followed it back south of Bentley but it didn’t look like it had a lot to it anymore, so I bailed for home.
