August 18
A big ridge of high pressure and toasty warm temperatures in the upper levels have been squashing any chance of convective goodies and building up the heat around here since the last post. A few small but electrically active storms rumbled around to the north and south us last night, a few more fired up in the foothills this aft west of Rocky/Drayton but nothing has been over here. Yet.
Today was the hottest day of the year, breaking records all over the southern half of the province.

We took advantage of the clear skies for a bit of a holiday last week, out to the Rocky Air show to see the Snowbirds and F-18 demo Wednesday night, then out to the Rocky Mountains for a visit.
Edit: If you like jets, crank up the sound and check out this short CF-18 high speed pass video.

That CF-18 pass was awesome! Thanks for sharing!
