Alberta Foothills Weather

September 21

Autumnal equinox tomorrow at 9:44am. That seemed like a short summer.
Nothing but beautiful weather here since the last post, the tail end of what has been the nicest stretch of the whole summer. Highs to 20 or better every day, and still not below zero overnight, something that hasn’t happened since the weather station went up.
Flowers are starting to give up now and plenty of color has developed in the trees around the yard over the past week. Harvest has begun and the countryside is busy with combines and grain trucks churning about, filling the evening skies with sunset enhancing dust. We took advantage of the nice weather for a bit of a holiday this week, which included a stop at the Calgary zoo to check out the new babies.
Autumn weather arrived a day early.. cloudy, windy, spitty and cool all day, it sure seemed like fall out there and the rapidly darkening evening skies don’t help. Pitch black before 8pm tonight.
Surely the farmers would have liked the past few weeks of nice clear skies in July instead of September, now we are lined up for a below average week of temps after some rain tonight and tomorrow.
