June 1 – Severe weather to start the month

More severe than I was expecting today anyway.
Just enough upper level wind from the south-southwest, a stiff low level flow from the southeast, and barely enough heat. Temperatures were only slightly above 15C when the popcorn began to pop to the south. It really didn’t look like a lot was going to happen until one cell coming off the foothills west of Calgary suddenly gained stream and headed for Olds. Then a line of storms formed up to the south of it along the same boundary, from Olds to southwest of Calgary slowly moving NNE, giving most folks south of here a taste of hail up to quarter size. Other than the hail, I didn’t hear of anything nasty, but wouldn’t be surprised to hear of a funnel or two.

There was a sighting in Hinton and Calgary that same day so I’m hope I did see one.

Hey Matt long time no see
I didn’t hear anything about funnels but wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few around Tuesday and/or Wednesday. I was watching around here but didn’t see any.
