Alberta Foothills Weather

July 23

Around 5pm a few cells started rolling off the foothills so we headed west to have a look at one south of Caroline. We met up with the target southwest of Spruceview and watched it build up a nice base, then quicky a large mammatus field under the leading edge of the anvil, then the bottom fell out.

We followed it back to the NE as it poured it’s insides out.

It did manage to rebuild a bit as it passed south of Sylvan Lake, but was still falling out and had nothing behind it so we decided to head home, grabbing a few shots along the way.

It dropped a bit of hail west of Red Deer and died south of Ponoka.
