February 4
Pretty darn nice around here for the beginning of February.
Warm air continues to pour over the Rockies, pushing us to 7C today and setting off lots of mountain wave action. Yesterday a big arch formed up over the foothills and this afternoon a few wavy bits and some little lenticular stacks piled up just as the sun was setting. The real treat was finding a narrow band of iridescent clouds, something we haven’t seen much of, but will certainly be watching more closely for.
Nothing very exciting showing on the forecast models for the next week. Less than 10cm of snow and the deep freeze looks to stay away until next Thursday. A clipper low is forecast to form up late tomorrow over the foothills west of here and zip south Friday, sucking some wind along behind it and hopefully dropping some snow in the foothills. Not looking like more than a cm or two for here…hoping for more.
The folks participating in The Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race might also be hoping for some fresh cushion on the Innisfail ski hill for the big event on Saturday. Should be a blast!
Well I’m glad there is some warmer air in the area. Can’t wait to be back in Calgary this weekend.Though it has been pretty warm here in PA the last few days
Hopefully we’ll see some action in the US next week with some supercells and tornadoes.
Love the pics once again!
